Sea eagle research at Smøla wind farm
(Oslo, 17 June 2010) Extensive research is being carried out at the Smøla wind farm to prevent sea eagles crashing from flying into wind turbines. So far this year, ten dead sea eagles have been recovered at the wind farm. The sea eagle population on Smøla is, however, robust and has increased since the construction of the wind farm.

Statkraft to spend SEK 60 million on Trosa district heating upgrade
(Trosa, 15 April 2010) Statkraft Värme AB will invest approx. SEK 60 million in an extensive rebuilding and upgrade of the Trosa district heating facility. The reason is that the existing facility is almost outdated, and that the company wants to ensure heating deliveries to existing and new customers for the future. Statkraft has noticed an increased interest in district heating as a reliable and eco-friendly source of heat.

Statkraft employee presented with this year’s Electric Power Award
Johan L. Amundsen has been presented with the 2009 Electric Power Award by the Norwegian National Committee of CIGRÉ for his work with, and knowledge of, generators. The award is highly recognised amongst hydropower experts. “This is an important acknowledgment and a great honour,” Amundsen says.
