Statkraft and the COVID-19 outbreak
24.03.2020 18.26 | pressrelease
Statkraft is closely monitoring the development of the COVID-19 outbreak and is taking continuous measures in line with the advice of national health authorities.
As Europe's largest supplier of renewable energy, Statkraft has a central role at all times in various markets delivering critical infrastructure, such as electricity and district heating. Statkraft is also a global market participant in energy trading.
Focus on operations
All Statkraft operation teams are well equipped to handle the situation and generate electricity even if employees are to become infected or ill. Our mission as an international power producer, energy trader and Norwegian district heating supplier means that personnel working in key operational functions must be at work. Statkraft carefully prioritizes resources to safeguard the safe and stable operation of the power plants as well as wholesale trading.
Statkraft has implemented several measures in the operational units, including split teams, reducing travels and attendance at meetings. Home office solutions have been introduced and meetings are being conducted through the use of digital communication. Cleaning and other hygiene measures have also been intensified.
In our hydropower operations in Norway for example, flood protection and regulation of water levels is also a priority in addition to focusing on the daily operations.
Statkraft’s office in Amsterdam is still open, but most of our employees are working from home. We are continuing with our normal activities both on trading of global environmental products as well as project development of wind and solar projects in The Netherlands. In case you therefore want to get in contact with us, please send an email or call us.
The normal operations of our solar park Lange Runde in the municipality of Emmen is still taken care of by our partner Blue Elephant Energy.
We continually assess how our construction projects should relate to the spreading of the virus and the various consequences it may provide.
Going forward, Statkraft will use this website to post updated information on the Covid-19 situation and how we deal with it.
